In 1999, Phil’s boss at Carat told him that “internet advertising will never take off”. Phil moved from TV into digital marketing and the rest, as they say, is history. As an early pioneer of online video, Phil was responsible for the world’s first ad-funded English Premier League video platform back in 2006. Phil joined Unruly in 2010 as one of its early employees after a successful career working with agencies, broadcasters and adtech start-ups. After growing the European business to six offices he launched Unruly APAC in April 2014. Phil is currently a board member of the Singapore/ SEA IAB and believes that great content and non-invasive, permission-based ad delivery are key to preserving the free internet. He has three young children and is a bit of a vinyl junkie. He divides his spare moments between quality family time and explaining who Sheffield Wednesday are to his APAC colleagues.
